On December 15th, Rapid City will be home to the first-in-the-country combined beauty spot. Drybar and Amazing Lash Studio are opening their doors to the community, bringing lash and blowout services.
In the heart of Rapid City, South Dakota, Keri Casteel and her sister Robin Zebroski are set to transform the beauty experience by introducing Drybar at 36 E Stumer Rd. Their journey began with a shared passion for beauty services and the realization of a void in the local market.
Keri, having recently sold a company, sought her next adventure. Recognizing the absence of a Drybar or blowout bar in Rapid City, she joined forces with her sister, Robin, who works full-time at Monument Health. Both sisters received services at Drybar locations across the United States, leading them to embark on the mission of bringing the joy of blowouts to their community.
Drybar offers services, including updos, with a lookbook featuring eight signature styles. The blowout process involves using a buttercup blow dryer, rough-drying the hair to 50%, and then working with a round brush to lock in curl and style. “It’s everything but a cut and color,” said Keri. The unique aspect of Drybar is its emphasis on providing a joyful experience beyond hair services. Complimentary mimosas, champagne, or coffee add to the celebratory vibe. Scalp massages during the wash and a distinctive atmosphere create a unique language at Drybar.
After an owners meeting in Denver, the duo knew this was what they wanted to do. “I love the vibe of a Drybar. You come in, it’s happy, it’s white and yellow, it’s pretty, it’s girly and bright,” Keri described. They moved forward with bringing the franchise to South Dakota. On September 15th the first location opened in Sioux Falls, and now the grand opening of their Rapid City location on Friday, December 15th.
Drybar is offering a fun giveaway with goodie bags, discounts on memberships, and more to celebrate the opening. Some membership options include the Barfly Double and Single options, providing flexibility for frequent visitors and those who prefer a monthly treat.
Amazing Lash Studio is owned and operated by Billi Raker. Robin had suggested she check out the owner’s meeting while Billi was on maternity leave.
The Amazing Lash Studio experience offers customers an initial 2-hour appointment, followed by 1-hour touch-ups every two weeks. Billi emphasized the importance of customer comfort, noting, “The biggest compliment you can give us is falling asleep while getting your lashes done because it means you’re comfortable in our space and trust us.”
Billi, Keri, and Robin are proud to have the country’s only side-by-side Drybar and Amazing Lash Studio. Both businesses even share a break room.
Billi expressed her appreciation of the community’s support, saying, “The support from the community has been great. The beauty community in Rapid City really supports one another.”
Amazing Lash Studio doesn’t only focus on lashes but also offers brow services. Customers can get their lashes permed and tinted with dye instead of opting for eyelash extensions.
“There’s something about making other women feel great,” mentioned Keri, “we just want everyone to leave feeling beautiful.”
