RAPID CITY, S.D. — Monument Health’s pulmonary rehabilitation program has once again earned certification from the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation (AACVPR), a recognition that underscores its commitment to patient care and outcomes.
The accreditation process requires extensive documentation and peer review to ensure programs meet national standards for quality. Monument Health’s program, based in Rapid City, provides exercise, education, counseling and support for patients living with conditions such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and other respiratory illnesses.
AACVPR certification, valid for three years, is considered the gold standard for cardiovascular and pulmonary rehabilitation. Since 2018, the organization has emphasized outcomes-based measurements, meaning programs must demonstrate meaningful results in helping patients recover and improve their quality of life.
Cardiovascular and pulmonary rehabilitation programs are designed to help patients who have experienced heart attacks, undergone bypass surgery, or are managing chronic respiratory symptoms. The goal is to speed recovery and support healthier lifestyles through guided exercise and education.
With this re-certification, Monument Health continues to be recognized as a leader in pulmonary rehabilitation, offering advanced practices to patients in Rapid City and across the Black Hills.
