RAPID CITY, S.D. (July 30, 2025) — A&W Restaurants in Rapid City and across the Black Hills will celebrate National Root Beer Float Day on Wednesday, August 6, with free treats and a patriotic purpose. From 2 p.m. to 8 p.m., guests can enjoy a free small Root Beer Float at participating locations — no purchase necessary — while also having the opportunity to donate to Disabled American Veterans (DAV), a nonprofit supporting more than one million U.S. veterans and their families.

The event is part of a long-running national partnership between A&W and DAV. This year’s celebration also features a limited-edition 2025 A&W Collector’s Mug, available for $10 at participating restaurants now through August 6. All proceeds from mug sales will directly benefit DAV, helping fund emergency assistance, caregiver support, and other vital services for veterans.

National Root Beer Float Day is the most delicious day on the calendar for A&W and our customers,” said Betsy Schmandt, President and CEO of A&W Restaurants. “We’re pleased to support DAV again this year. It is fitting that as we gift this classic treat to our customers, we also honor and support American veterans who have given so much to our country.”

Since launching the initiative, A&W has raised over $1 million for DAV. The campaign continues to underscore the company’s commitment to giving back to the communities it serves — including here in Rapid City and throughout South Dakota.
