For Adam and Emily Martinez, great wine isn’t about price tags or prestige—it’s about connection. It’s the kind of wine that lifts your spirits and sparks conversation.
Inspired by their love for wine, the people it brings together, and the Black Hills they call home, the couple is pouring that passion into Uplifted Winery, a fresh and welcoming new presence in downtown Rapid City.
Uplifted Winery will officially open at 725 Saint Joseph St. on Friday, Aug. 8, but wine lovers can get an early taste during three exclusive wine club preview nights on July 30, August 1, and August 2. These reservation-only events offer a first look at the Uplifted experience—email [email protected] to reserve your spot.

“Opening Uplifted Winery in the heart of downtown Rapid City is truly a dream come true for us,” said Adam, who, along with co-owning the winery, also has the titles of winemaker and general manager. “This space is about more than just wine—it’s about creating a place where people feel welcome, inspired, and connected. Every bottle we craft is a reflection of the relationships we’ve built, the beauty of the Black Hills, and the belief that wine should lift people up.”
Adam’s journey in wine began more than 14 years ago, with a growing passion that led him to become a winemaker in 2017. With an enology certificate from Washington State University and a diverse educational background, Adam brings both science and soul to his craft.
Emily—co-owner, administrator, and engineer by trade—brings a deep-rooted love for the Black Hills to Uplifted Winery. One of six siblings, she grew up hiking and exploring the region’s unique rock formations, guided by her parents, both hydrologists and geologists, who instilled in her a lifelong appreciation for the land.
“Our wines celebrate the stories of this landscape—from geology-inspired labels to a logo shaped by the Hills,” she said. “We’re honored to share a taste of this place with you.”
Whether you’re a longtime wine lover or simply curious to explore something new, Adam and Emily invite you to stop in, sip, and experience the warmth, flavor, and connection that make Uplifted Winery a true taste of the Black Hills.
