As the warmth of summer descends on Rapid City, local attractions eagerly swing open their gates to welcome guests once again. Reptile Gardens
Home to one of the largest and deadliest collections of reptiles in the world, Reptile Gardens has added Virtual Reality Adventures to its lineup. Featuring short film experiences, guests can explore the wonders of the natural world. Don’t forget, season passes are free with your admission purchase!
Dinosaur Museum
If you have yet to explore this attraction, it’s worth the stop. The Black Hills Dinosaur Museum houses real fossils from the Black Hills region, a mirror maze, mini golf, and more.
City of Presidents Audio Tour
New this year, take an audio tour of the City of Presidents statues downtown. Easily accessible via mobile, this tour highlights the storied history of each president and the artist’s reason behind the pose.

Bear Country U.S.A.
Opening April 26
Bear Country boasts the largest collection of privately owned black bears in the world. It is a 2-mile wildlife park that allows you to encounter species of North American animals in their natural, free-roaming condition. Stretch your legs at Wildlife Walk to be greeted by a slew of adorable and playful youngsters each spring.

Dinosaur Park
Visitors to Rapid City’s beloved Dinosaur Park will see some big changes on opening day including accessible pedestrian routes to view the green giants, and new visitor amenities including site interpretation. Renovations will continue through June, and the park is asking guests to be mindful as workers finish up the highly anticipated project.
Chapel in the Hills
Rapid City’s replica of the famous Borgund Stavkirke, of Laerdal, Norway is a stunning hidden gem. More than a picture-perfect chapel, the grounds’ experience extends to the Meditation Trail and inside of an authentic Stabbur which was constructed in Norway, shipped to South Dakota, and then assembled on-site in the original fashion.
Old MacDonald’s Farm
Honoring the age-old tradition of farming, Old MacDonald’s Farm provides a glimpse into country living. Children can enjoy the rare opportunity to pet and feed animals like goats, pigs, and chickens. The farm also offers pony rides, a train ride, and pig races.
Black Hills Caverns
Opening May 4
Discovered in 1882 by gold hunters, the wonders of Black Hills Caverns can be savored through two unique tours: The Adventure Tour is an hour-long exploration through all three levels of the cavern. For those who desire a shorter expedition, the Crystal Tour offers a thrilling 30-minute gaze into the first level of the cave.
Buffalo Hunt Coaster
Opening May 19
The newest addition in Fort Hays – an interactive roller coaster! As the coaster soars through life-like bison models, participants go head-to-head, aiming to hit the greatest number of targets that are spread out along the track.
City View Trolley
Opening May 24
Touring Rapid City for it’s second season, the City View Trolley offers a chance to tour Rapid City highlights. This narrated tour is excellent for any recent transplant to the area or for a refresher on Rapid City’s history and offerings. Trolley tickets can be purchase at CityViewTrolley.com.
Main Street Square Fountains
Opening May 24
Winter skating has been fully transformed to a patch of green with interactive fountains that add an irresistible allure. Fountains are available for enjoyment Tuesday to Sunday and closed for cleaning every Monday.
Storybook Island
Opening May 25
Storybook Island is set to transport visitors into the magical world of their favorite childhood stories. The park has also been working hard to add accessible activities to their grounds for children of all abilities. The park is free to all, operating from donations and paid experiences like the train ride and carousel.
