STURGIS, S.D. — A new dining destination is coming to the northern Black Hills as The Canyon Grille prepares to open May 1 at Boulder Canyon Golf Club near Sturgis
The new restaurant will share a home with the golf club’s expanded Golf Shop, adding a fresh dining and hospitality option for golfers, local residents and visitors traveling through Boulder Canyon.
Located along Highway 14A between Sturgis and Deadwood in the Black Hills National Forest, the new building is already taking shape among the pines as construction continues ahead of the spring opening. Once complete, The Canyon Grille will feature indoor dining, patio seating and a full bar with local craft beer and signature cocktails.
The menu will focus on locally inspired, farm-to-table offerings, including Texas-style barbecue smoked fresh daily, along with burgers, sandwiches, salads and rotating seasonal specials.
“We wanted to create a space that feels approachable, authentic, and connected to this incredible setting,” Marlon McMakin of Boulder Canyon Golf Club and The Canyon Grille said. “Our goal is for The Canyon Grille to be a place where people gather — not just for great food, but for the sense of community that makes Boulder Canyon so special.”
The opening also includes the debut of the club’s new Golf Shop, which will offer updated gear and apparel. In addition, The Bunker will serve as a grab-and-go stop for fresh food and beverages before a round or at the turn.
Club leaders say the additions reflect Boulder Canyon Golf Club’s continued investment in creating a destination experience in the Black Hills, where golf, dining and community come together.
The Canyon Grille is scheduled to open May 1, 2026.
