RAPID CITY, S.D. — A new indoor entertainment option is set to open in downtown Rapid City next month.

iSmash, a national brand known for its rage rooms and splatter paint experiences, plans to open in May 2026 at 625 Main St. in historic downtown Rapid City, according to an announcement from the company.

The Rapid City venue will be owned and operated by local entrepreneurs Jake Weber and Zack Potvin, who also operate a regional distribution company. The business will offer multiple rage rooms and splatter paint rooms for individuals, families and groups.

“We’ve been looking for several years to diversify into another business, and iSmash immediately stood out because of how unique and fun the concept is,” Weber said in the announcement.

Weber said the pair saw an opportunity to add another year-round indoor attraction in Rapid City, particularly during the long winter months, while creating something both children and adults could enjoy.

The company said customers will be provided protective gear and tools for the experiences, which are designed around stress relief, creativity and group entertainment.

“Jake and Zack bring a strong entrepreneurial background and a deep understanding of their community,” iSmash founder and CEO Steven Shortino said in the announcement. “Their vision for bringing a dynamic indoor entertainment concept to Rapid City aligns perfectly with what iSmash is all about — creating memorable experiences that bring people together.”

The new business will be located in one of Rapid City’s busiest downtown corridors, near restaurants, retail shops and tourist attractions in the city’s central district. Company officials said Weber and Potvin also plan to become involved with the local Chamber of Commerce as they establish the business in the Black Hills area.

The Rapid City opening is also part of a broader South Dakota expansion plan. Weber and Potvin said they intend to open a second iSmash location in Sioux Falls.

Founded in 2018 in Rochester, New York, iSmash has expanded nationally with entertainment concepts that include rage rooms, blacklight splatter painting and axe throwing. The company markets itself as an experience-based business focused on physical activity, creativity and social connection.

More information about the Rapid City location is available through iSmash.
