RAPID CITY, S.D. — The YMCA of Rapid City has appointed two new Executive Board Members, adding local leadership experience as the organization continues expanding its community impact across the Black Hills.

The Y announced this week that Mike Kirkeby and Jess Gromer have joined the board, bringing decades of professional expertise and a strong connection to western South Dakota.

Kirkeby, a longtime Rapid City resident, works as a professional insurance adjuster with Dakota Claims Service. He is also well known in the region’s sports community, serving more than 25 years as a SDHSAA referee and coach. He was named the 2016 SDHSAA Basketball Referee of the Year. YMCA officials said his background as a local business owner and sports leader will help support ongoing youth development initiatives.

Gromer is the CEO and founder of G & G Consulting, specializing in organizational structure, public policy, program development and strategic planning. With more than 25 years of leadership experience — including extensive work in early childhood education — she brings a policy-driven perspective to the board. Outside her professional work, she enjoys golfing, cooking and gardening.

“We are thrilled to welcome Jess and Mike to the Board,” said Keiz Larson, Executive Director and CEO of the YMCA of Rapid City. “Their diverse backgrounds, expertise, and commitment to our values will be instrumental in helping us achieve our vision of building a stronger, healthier community for all.”

YMCA leaders said the additions strengthen the organization’s long-term strategy as it grows programs throughout Rapid City and the Black Hills, focusing on youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.
