RAPID CITY, S.D. – The city of Rapid City, a gateway to the Black Hills, issued 223 building permits in October with a combined valuation exceeding $69.8 million, marking the second-highest October on record for building permit valuation.
With two months remaining in the year, the city has issued 2,078 building permits totaling $357.4 million in valuation. This compares to 2,281 permits issued through the first 10 months of 2024, which had a combined valuation of $342.5 million. “October was a great month in terms of permit valuation,” said Community Development Director Vicki Fisher. “We are pleased with the overall numbers and especially pleased as we continue to see steady growth in numbers of permits issued for single family homes.”
The city issued 21 permits for new single-family homes in October, bringing the 10-month total for that classification to 169. This surpasses the 119 permits issued for single-family homes in all of 2024 and the 133 issued in 2023.
