RAPID CITY, S.D. – Simpson’s Printing is marking its 60th anniversary this year, highlighting decades of growth, community involvement and continuous investment in new technologies to meet the needs of Rapid City and the greater Black Hills region.

“Over the past 60 years, we’ve witnessed significant changes in both our business and the community we serve,” said Jonathan Simpson, representing the third-generation family-owned company. “As Rapid City has grown, we’ve continually innovated and expanded alongside it.”

Founded in 1965, Simpson’s Printing built its reputation on high-quality full-color offset printing. In recent years, the company has invested heavily in its digital printing department, giving customers faster turnaround on smaller projects without sacrificing quality.

“This allows us to meet tight deadlines and budgets for shorter print runs while maintaining the high quality our customers expect,” Simpson said.

About 15 years ago, the company expanded into large-format printing, offering event graphics, banners, wall wraps, acrylic printing and sign panels. That expansion has grown steadily, with larger and faster machines now meeting demand for bigger projects.

The company’s latest investment focuses on label printing, an area Simpson said has been underserved in western South Dakota.

“For the past five years, we’ve conducted extensive research into another underserved segment of the printing industry in our area: label printing,” he said. “This winter, we took a significant leap of faith and invested in a professional and powerful commercial label printing system.”

Simpson said the new division will be a “great asset to the community, offering future manufacturing businesses local and regional options for truly professional product labeling production right here in West River.”

Beyond business growth, Simpson’s Printing has maintained a strong presence in community support through nonprofit sponsorships and local events.

“We feel incredibly blessed to have been a part of this community for the last 60 years and to have had the opportunity to support and sponsor so many non-profits and events,” Simpson said. “We look forward to another 60 years of support from our wonderful clients; it’s what motivates us to continue pushing the limits every day.”
