RAPID CITY, S.D. – The Western Dakota Technical College (WDTC) Professional Truck Driving Program is celebrating its 30th anniversary with an open house on Saturday, Sept. 13. The event will take place from 10 a.m. to noon in Badlands Hall and is open to the public, including past students, instructors, and community members.
The program, which began in 1995, has trained more than 1,400 drivers, addressing the consistent demand for skilled professional drivers in Rapid City, the Black Hills, and throughout South Dakota. The open house will feature a showcase of WDTC’s trucks and trailers, including some of the original 1995 vehicles, as well as a photo display chronicling the program’s history. Attendees will also have the opportunity to learn more about the program and the career training it provides.
WDTC’s Professional Truck Driving Program is a Registered Training Provider for Entry-Level Driver Training, ensuring that students meet current industry standards. According to a WDTC placement report, 100% of its most recent graduates are employed, continuing their education, or enlisted in the military.
