Last Updated 1 day ago

RAPID CITY, S.D. — The City of Rapid City is seeking applicants to fill a vacancy on its Air Quality Board.

The opening is for the business representative seat, which requires the applicant to be associated with a business in the area regulated by Rapid City Municipal Code Chapter 8.34 or Pennington County Ordinance No. 12. However, the individual may not be tied to a business directly regulated by those ordinances.

Applications are due by 5 p.m. on Nov. 3. Interested citizens can submit a Citizen Interest Application online at rcgov.org.

The Air Quality Board meets quarterly and works to keep Rapid City in compliance with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s National Ambient Air Quality Standards. The board focuses on reducing health and environmental risks tied to fugitive dust, smoke from wood burning and open burning.

The position carries a three-year term. Appointments are recommended by the mayor and confirmed by the Rapid City Council. Women and minorities are encouraged to apply.

For more information, contact the mayor’s office at 605-394-4110 or visit the Air Quality page on the city’s website.
