RAPID CITY, S.D. (July 7, 2025) — Allegiant Air is celebrating a major milestone in the Black Hills, marking 20 years of nonstop service at Rapid City Regional Airport.
Since launching flights in 2005, the Las Vegas-based airline has flown more than 1.3 million passengers to and from Rapid City, helping connect the region to leisure destinations across the country. Known for its budget-friendly, nonstop flight model, Allegiant continues to offer convenient service that aligns with tourism and vacation travel seasons.
“We are thrilled to celebrate this milestone with Rapid City Regional Airport,” said Kristen Schilling Gonzales, Allegiant’s vice president of planning and revenue. “Our partnership with RAP has allowed us to provide affordable, nonstop options to countless passengers.”

Airport officials say Allegiant’s arrival two decades ago created a meaningful shift in air service for Rapid City and western South Dakota.
“Allegiant’s arrival 20 years ago brought a new kind of travel opportunity to our community,” said Patrick Dame, executive director of Rapid City Regional Airport. “Their low-cost, nonstop flights have made travel easier for families, visitors, and businesses. We’re proud of the partnership and the growth it’s brought to the Black Hills over the years.”

To mark the anniversary, Rapid City Regional Airport hosted a celebration featuring cake, cookies, and a ceremonial water salute performed by the Rapid City Fire Department’s Station 8.
Allegiant currently offers nonstop flights from Rapid City to three destinations, with schedules and fares available exclusively at Allegiant.com.
As a leisure-focused carrier, Allegiant’s presence continues to support both outbound vacationers and inbound tourism, adding value to the local economy and the broader South Dakota travel landscape.
