Hebron Brick Expands Operations in Rapid City

Last Updated 2 days ago

Hebron Brick Company is expanding their sales operations in Rapid City to add a distribution component. The project, which brings an estimated $6 million capital expenditure and will create 7 full-time jobs, recently opened its E Anamosa Street location.

Hebron is an employee-owned, North Dakota-based clay brick manufacturing company. With sales offices in three states, the company has a far-reaching impact in the Dakotas and the surrounding states in the construction products industry. They currently sell their clay brick in 47 states and Canada through dealers and direct sales.

Elevate Rapid City assisted the expansion efforts by connecting Hebron with funding from the South Dakota Governor’s Office of Economic Development (GOED). In the fall, they were approved for a $1.2 million SD Works loan, which enabled them to purchase the property and expand these services.

“Being a primary sector company in North Dakota, we were unsure of the programs available in SD when it comes to expansion and future growth plans in South Dakota,” said executive vice president Gene Thurston. “Aspects of financing, labor force, and community involvement were all topics that Elevate Rapid City was a great resource for.”

“This project is a great example of how we work to support local businesses in Rapid City,” said Kallie Ruland, Business Development Manager at Elevate Rapid City. “In a discovery meeting with Hebron Brick, we learned about their plans to expand locally. From there, we were able to connect them with the right partners and resources to help move their project forward. With the strength of our region’s distribution industry, we’re excited to see Hebron Brick become part of this growing sector.”

“Rapid City is such a unique, vibrant community to be part of,” Thurston added. “While tourism is strong, there are so many aspects of the city that seem to make it a great place to live and work. We have very high hopes in growing our location as Rapid City grows. We are excited to be part of that journey!”
