October 2024: New Rapid City Restaurants

Last Updated 5 days ago

Rapid City’s vibrant culinary scene continues to expand, with several new restaurants opening their doors this October. From gourmet burgers and artisan chocolates to authentic Vietnamese cuisine, there’s something to satisfy every palate. The city’s diverse offerings are a testament to its growing popularity as a destination for both residents and visitors alike.

Coming Mid-October to Mount Rushmore Road

A lot of eye-catching development is underway as you drive south on Mount Rushmore Road. Just past Black Hills Energy’s Horizon Point headquarters, the colorful design of 7201 Mt. Rushmore Road is undoubtedly one of those projects. Complete Concrete is the current tenant of the mixed-use development. Two Rapid City eateries will soon join the neighborhood.

Salt Block Burgers & Brews is a locally owned and operated restaurant. It will offer gourmet burgers, 30 tap beers, and a nice selection of wines. Representatives say they are planning on a mid-October opening.

Mostly Chocolates is an artisan chocolate factory and retail store. It has operated in Rapid City for over 40 years. They are relocating to 7201 Mt. Rushmore Road. The move will give a larger storefront and allow the owners to expand their services with MC Coffee House.

Owner Peggy Porch shared, “Living and working in the Black Hills is a dream come true. Besides the stunning geography, the people here are good, considerate, and kind. Serving this community and being a member of the business fraternity is a privilege and a pleasure.” The new location will open in mid-October.

More Restaurants Opening in Rapid City this October

Koko Kitchen Vietnamese Cuisine will open at 1520 Haines Avenue on October 8. It is across from the Maverik Gas Station and Albertano’s, near Papa Johns. The location was formerly Sweet Treats and Cupcakes n’ Schmitt.

A second A&W Restaurant is opening October 28th inside Walmart off Lacrosse Street. A new franchisee, Dakota Root Beer, will operate this A&W Restaurant location. “We are excited to bring our made daily homemade root beer, root beer floats, and frozen mugs to the community,” said Ruben Amador, Area Director of Operations. Dakota Root Beer recently opened an A&W Restaurant at the Spearfish WalMart as well.

This is the second A&W Restaurant in Rapid City. The other, off Deadwood Avenue, is owned by MG Oil.

Recently Opened Rapid City Restaurant

Dakota Meat Company is a premium Meat Market & Deli in Downtown Rapid City offering farm to table beef raised in South Dakota. They also source local cheese and other products from local producers. The storefront opened in September at 502 Main Street, the suite formerly occupied by Philly Ted’s. Long-term plans include offering prepared food as well. Current hours are Wednesday through Saturday,  11 AM to 5 PM.

Restaurants Still to Come

Catrachos Latin Cuisine anticipates an end-of-year opening. The menu will offer a fusion of traditional dishes and new flavors from across Latin America, including specialties from Cuba, Mexico, Honduras, El Salvador, Colombia, Peru, and Spain. Executive Chef Osman Casco trained in the Miami Culinary Institute.

The restaurant is located at 544 Century Road – near Midco, Sonic Drive-In, and the new Pottery 2 Paint location.
