BankWest Learning & Development Initiatives Earn National Recognition

BankWest Learning & Development representatives received three distinguished awards at Training Magazine’s APEX Awards event. For the fifth year in a row, BankWest was named an APEX award winner based on the quality and impact of the company’s training and development initiatives. BankWest received its highest award ranking to date, placing 21st among 105 applicants.

Training magazine is the leading business publication for Learning and Development (L&D) professionals. 2024 marks the 24th year Training magazine has recognized organizations that provide best-in-class employee training and development. According to its website, “It reflects the winners’ journey to attain peak performance in employee training and development and organizational success.”

“The 2024 Training APEX Awards winners are the shining stars in the learning and development industry,” notes Training Editor/Publisher Lorri Freifeld. “They light the way for engaging, innovative, and continuous learning. We are thrilled to recognize their stellar accomplishments and dedication to helping their employees and organizations grow and succeed.”

BankWest representatives were VP of Learning & Strategic Development, Becky Burke, Learning & Development Assistant Manager, Ari Schofield, and VP of Sales/Marketing Sales Manager, Jennifer Baloun.

Local Award Winners

Becky Burke was selected as an Emerging Training Leader. Training Magazine’s international training program recognized 25 individuals as emerging leaders who provide exceptional leadership skills, communicate the scope of large initiatives, change behaviors, and measure outcomes.

Jennifer Baloun leader of the BankWest Value Added Sales Training program, received an Outstanding Training Initiative Award. This award recognizes companies for new training initiatives that have been available for one year or less.

The APEX Awards ranking is based on myriad benchmarking statistics and a range of qualitative and quantitative factors, including:

  • Total training budget
  • Percentage of payroll
  • Scope of training programs provided
  • Detailed formal and informal training programs
  • Training linked to business/business unit goals
  • Kirkpatrick Level 3 and 4 evaluation
  • Business outcomes resulting from training
